Almost done

well paint wise Nele is almost done! I did take layer by layer pictures yesterday and will load them tomorrow but as for what I did this morning well my battery went flat and I couldn't bring myself to stop working! so no pics of the final few layers sorry!
Here is how she is looking this evening I still do need to do some work on her wrinkles and creases

Well I actually got all of work finished by 2:00pm today *yay* so that means I got to do quiet afew more layers on Nele

Layer4 Skin tones done with a texture spongs this gives a slightly speckled effect which the camera struggled to pick up but it is kind of visable in the close up photo

Layer 5 Mottling with a dusty rose type colour using textured sponge I mainly focused the mottling on the limbs and just lightly did the face

Layer 6 Mottling again this time with purple

Layer 7 Mottling with a Strawberry redish colour

Layer 8 Mottling with Purple again

Layer 9 was Mottling with the puple from the pervious layer mixed with a touch of turquoise and a touch of yellow which gave like a bluish grey colour  this layer was done extremly thin!

I ran out of light at this stage so will take her front face shot for layer 9 in the morning and then will continue working on her... I will be toning down the mottling so it is more subtle

A Bludge day at work

Ok well I didn't quite feel like working today so found every excuse in the book that I could think of to get out of doing anything lol sometimes I really do think it is a bad idea to work at home!

So my day started by talking to my boyfriend on the phone for about 2 hours! was so good to talk to him felt like it has been forever!
and then after that I forced myself to do alittle work so worked for 11:30, 12ish through till 3 I just couldn't handle any more than that  .. and with Lorena Maes' painting finshed!!  i pulled out my custom Nele, my real effects paints and my airbrush and got stuck in.
Felt so good to be painting again, not that I got much done just 3 layers but it is progress

this is Nele blank she doesn't need all that much neautralizing however thought I would do alittle to start as she is going to be strawberries and cream skin tones

Nele layer 1: a lime turquoise green wash made up of turquoise, yellow and skin tone

Hopefully I will beable to get away with cutting my work day short again tomorrow and I will start giving her some subtle mottling !

Lorena Mae Progress!!

Well I have made some good progress on Lorena Mae. I'm sure her mum is thinking "FINALLY"
 I just have blushing and alittle shading to do before I start rooting. I should have that done before the weekend. So that rooting can commence

 I will be happy to have her finished as it means I have surmounted the challange, plus I think she is going to be beautiful when she is finished.

Happy New Year

I'd just like to start out by say Happy New Year to my followers and friends. I wish you all the utmost happiness and success in all of your endeavours no matter what they may be!

Well what a way to finish off the year and start the new! My little Brishan (Fussy)came in 1st place in Samantha Gregorys competition!. I was so surprised and overwhelmed, a big THANK YOU to Samantha and all the other judges of the comp, I know from seeing the other versions of the kit it must have been very difficult to choose, they were all absolutly gorgeous. Congratulations to all the other artists in the comp well done!

What will be happening in the new year at the nursery?
1. I am hoping to start offering in person classes! I still have not nutted out all the details, at this point it appears thursdays will be the best day for me to hold them. If you are in the blue mountains NSW area and are interested please feel free to contact me .

2. I still have 2 follow over custom orders to finish hopefully it won't take me too long (yes one of them is lorena mae lol)

3. I have ALOT of kits that I planing on selling I just have too many to ever get through

4. After completing the remaining custom orders I am hoping to make afew babies to sell on my site or ebay, before accepting any more custom orders.

When I do start taking custom orders again there will be afew changes as to how they work, I will talk about that closer to when I start taking orders again.

photographing ethnic babies

yikes why do I have so much trouble photographing ethnic babies??? its either way to light and they look white or its way to dark and they look way off colour...... makes me feel a bit like goldie locks must have felt lol

Finally my dad has taken pitty on me and has said he is going to show me what to do! ever since I started making ethnic babies I have been harrasing him and he keeps saying " play with the camera, learn for yourself" "If you don't teach yourself no one will" etc etc I guess it goes to show you can wear a stuborn man down if he is your dad and you take after him! it just takes time lol

Well this is one of my latests babies affectionately known as "Shim" (shim stands for She/Him) as shims' mum is going to get a surprise of the sex of the baby  and yes this is the baby I have had soooo much trouble photographing. (although most of the ethnic reborns in the past I have had trouble with as well)
So this may or may not be shims actual colouring lol! I will see if dad keeps his word tomorrow and then will compare photos!

I am so happy with how Shim is looking in person ... dare I say my best yet?? I think so I hope I haven't jinxed myself now lol.

As for the other baby well that is Lorena Mae..... I feel like I have been working on her forever! Has anyone else ever successfully made this kit? She is terrible! Not the sculpt I actually like the sculpt  its the vynil! Horrible horrible horrible I have had to strip her 3 times now and even before the stripping I was having paint stick issues and now I have done 20 layers and counting (super super thin its the only way I could get the paint to stick) and she is only just starting to change colour... and ofcourse she is going to be a milk chocolate baby so that means I may litterally be working on her forever! any advice is appreciated... but i'm guessing I just have to keep plugging away on her ... So I guess its a good thing that I am stuborn as I am not going to let this kit beat me! I will get her looking brown tomorrow... hopefully!

2nd place!

Well I am very proud of my little Brishan, he took 2nd place in the baby banter baby of the year comp!! woohoo, I never expected that!.

A huge thank you to all the members of baby banter who voted for my little man, and a big congratulations to Judy Gray of Kisses from Heaven who took out first place with her Welcome Back Taylor. It was a well deserved win Judy well done!.
