Private Order: Mad about Nina by Gudrun Legler

Ok so my private order for Nina by Gudrun Legler is well and truly under way and I am mad (in a good way) about her, she is so amazingly adorable and the details in her limbs almost make me drool! such a fantastic kit to work on, she is beautifully sculpted the vinyl takes the paint so very well and it has a lovely feel to it. Any who enough of my crazy ramblings of how I am in love with an uncompleted work of art and time to share some progress piccys so you can all understand lol

I still have some shading and detailing to do on her hands and feet but will be starting her hair on Sunday! how very exciting!! and then may make some alterations after her hair is done for more piccys of her pop on over to my face book page ordinary miracles reborn nursery

wow where has the time gone?

well the saying is true time flys when your having fun! ... or is it ... "when your rushed off your feet" lol
I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful easter break and you are all refreshed and raring to get back into life :)
well it has been such a long time since I have updated where to start! ..
Lorena Mae has been finished and living at her new home for quiet a while now. Her new mummy was thrilled at the new adition to her reborn family.

Devin (aka Nele) has also been sent on her way home all the way over to NZ I was informed this morning that she arrived safely and her mummy is so happy with her she doesn't want to put her down!

Its always soooo lovely to recive feedback, its a nice feeling to think you have made someone else happy.

As for nursery news well I am now on FaceBook! I know I said I would never join but I caved to peer presure so if you would like to be kept up to date with the most current info feel free to "like" the nursery page.

Vivien is still a work in progress I have most of her skin tones completed and am just waiting on her scrummy hair to arrive  I can not wait to get started on her hair I have big plans for this one i'm trying so hard not to let it slip what I am trying to do with her hair incase it doesn't work lol but knowing me I will slip up
Photos don't do this little one justice

Whilst I am waiting I am debating on wether I should start painting someone else.... having trouble deciding who will be next

oh and how could I forget!! Ravi took out 2nd place in the Baby Banter babies day out comp in march! how exciting

a mish mash of things

Well I am rooting my fingers to the bone so to speak with 2 babies at different phases of the rooting process!
I also recived a set of luminaire paints in the mail yesterday so was itching to have a go and see what results are possible with these paints. So I got a few layers done on Vivien just some colour correcting (her head is painted in the pic and arm is the blank vynil colour) as you can see she still has a long way to go before she is neautralized as she is quiet  orange, she is the older real effects vynil their vynil these days is a much nice colour to work on..
and remember orange is corrected with BLUE not green. make sure your layers are really thin though you shouldn't beable to see any blue on the vynil. Its a good idea if you don't know much about colour theory to get your self a colour wheel. Locate the colour your vynil is closest too on the wheel and then you use the colour that is opposite to it to neautralize.

Little Ravi (aka Shim) is on the way home as of yesterday so sad to see this little one go but he is going to a fabulous home and will be well loved.

more on Nele layers

ok I know I said I would post these the other day but life happened and I got busy and distracted so am putting them up today

layer 10 was a wash of the lime turquoise colour
layer 11 I thought she was looking alittle grey so I did a yellow wash

layer 12 was alittle more blushing using brown and burgundy

layer 13 I can't remember for sure but I think it was more blushing

and then my camera ran out of battery but this is what she is looking like now and she is patiently sitting on my drying rack whilst I root lorena maes hair I can't wait to get little Nele finished though she is just so precious!

more on Nele

Well I actually got all of work finished by 2:00pm today *yay* so that means I got to do quiet afew more layers on Nele

Layer4 Skin tones done with a texture spongs this gives a slightly speckled effect which the camera struggled to pick up but it is kind of visable in the close up photo

Layer 5 Mottling with a dusty rose type colour using textured sponge I mainly focused the mottling on the limbs and just lightly did the face

Layer 6 Mottling again this time with purple

Layer 7 Mottling with a Strawberry redish colour

Layer 8 Mottling with Purple again

The colour used for layer

Layer 9 was Mottling with the puple from the pervious layer mixed with a touch of turquoise and a touch of yellow which gave like a bluish grey colour  this layer was done extremly thin!

I ran out of light at this stage so will take her front face shot for layer 9 in the morning and then will continue working on her... I will be toning down the mottling so it is more subtle

A Bludge day at work

Ok well I didn't quite feel like working today so found every excuse in the book that I could think of to get out of doing anything lol sometimes I really do think it is a bad idea to work at home!

So my day started by talking to my boyfriend on the phone for about 2 hours! was so good to talk to him felt like it has been forever!
and then after that I forced myself to do alittle work so worked for 11:30, 12ish through till 3 I just couldn't handle any more than that  .. and with Lorena Maes' painting finshed!!  i pulled out my custom Nele, my real effects paints and my airbrush and got stuck in.
Felt so good to be painting again, not that I got much done just 3 layers but it is progress
this is Nele blank she doesn't need all that much neautralizing however thought I would do alittle to start as she is going to be strawberries and cream skin tones
Nele layer 1: a lime turquoise green wash made up of turquoise, yellow and skin tone

Nele layer 2: a turquoise & skin tone wash

Nele layer 3: Skin Tone

Hopefully I will beable to get away with cutting my work day short again tomorrow and I will start giving her some subtle mottling !
hugs Gayle
